Aluminium Shutters from S&S

Aluminium Shutters are some of our most cost-effective solutions.

You can often find this type of shutter installed in homes and businesses in doorways, windows, and garage doors. They can be insulated with ease, or upgraded to LPS1175 compliant security shutters, making them a versatile and high security option for any application, especially for garage doors. Due to the relatively low melting point of aluminium, this type of shutter is not used in applications where fire resistance is required.

All roller shutters are controlled either manually (by a spring loaded barrel or hand-chain), or are motor-operated with a single phase or 3 phase electric motor.

Depending on your requirements, some options may be better than others for your application.

For example, if you are using the shutter multiple times per day then a manual operation or 3-phase motor will be recommended to make sure parts aren’t overworked.

If the shutter is the size of an average shop front, and you expect to use it once or twice per day (when opening or closing a business) then a single phase motor will be adequate.

Aluminium shutters are one of the most popular options for insulated garage doors, due to the light weight of the materials used, they can be supported without the need for heavy duty re-inforcements like steel or timber frameworks.

Perforated and punched finishes are available on non-insulated shutters, which help to enable airflow and visibility into and out of the premises. Shutters like this are them ideal for homes, shops, and other buildings with commercial applications where the free movement of air is necessary. Ask us about the following options:

Due to the low melting point of aluminium, they are generally not suitable for fire-resistant applications. We do stock a wide range of fire shutters, so please take a look at our page concerning them.

Operation is available through electric motor (tubular or direct drive), or a counter balance spring for manual use. All electrically operated roller shutters can be fitted with any one of a variety of control options such as key switch, push buttons, remote control, keypad, and many more.
